There are a few important factors that will determine the outcome of the shoot. You as a parent know your child much better than anyone else. If your little one is sick or not feeling too well, please phone me to reschedule the shoot. Try to make sure that everyone is well rested and fed. If we plan to meet at a park or at the beach make sure to bring some snacks, something to drink and some wet wipes!

How to book a session

Just give me a call or e-mail me and we can discuss the best time of day for your session. We can work around naps, feeding times, and the individual needs of you and your children.

Remember to book a newborn shoot in advance. The perfect age for a newborn baby to be photographed is within the first 2 weeks. This way they sleep through most of the shoot and their bodies are still so tiny and flawless! We can book a shoot in advance and if the baby is born earlier or later, we can reschedule the shoot.

What to wear

It is important that your child's clothing isn’t too busy, as it will take the main focus off the child and onto the clothing. If possible, stay away from clothing and shoes with logos or big printed images. Try to go for layered outfits. Props, little hats and coats could be very interesting in photographs. If there is more than one child, outfits can be similar, but they do not have to match. Bring a few outfits for a nice variety of images.

How to choose a location

We will discuss this before the shoot. Shooting at your house can work because your little one will feel very comfortable and at ease in a known environment. If the space in your home is limited, we can go to a nearby park or a beach. The textures, colours and space of a nice shady park provides a beautiful background. If it is a cold or rainy day we can shoot inside, or find a sheltered place to take the photographs.
